The Egyptian Cotton Store is a new company, founded in 2004 by Kay Kennedy, who has many years experience in running other businesses.
Her business travels took Kay to Egypt many times a year, and she would often return laden down with Egyptian Cotton products for friends and family. As the request list grew longer, and people raved about how the products were so much better than other labelled “Egyptian Cotton” linens available in the UK, the idea was born to create the store.
The first priority was to find out why many products in the UK market were inferior in quality to the cotton goods purchased in Egypt. Many months later and after a lot of research it was realised that marketing people knew that by putting “Egyptian Cotton” labels on their products it meant a sign of quality. However “Egyptian Cotton” sometimes does not even come from Egypt and that within Egypt itself there are differing grades of cotton. What is all agreed by the experts, is that the long staple variety of Egyptian Cotton grown on the Nile Delta, is not only the finest cotton in Egypt, but in the world. It was this cotton then, which would be used to craft the exclusive designs for the store.
Recruiting designers to produce exclusive quality designs was the next step. Kay also had some very firm ideas about making sure that the products would look just as stunning in your home, as they do in advertisements. That was why it was important to make sure that meticulous care was taken in the detail. Creating fitted sheets that had deep enough pockets to fit over the deepest mattress, duvet cover closures that had invisible buttons instead of those irreplaceable poppers and were deep enough not to allow the duvet to “peep” through, and of course deep enough double-cuff flat sheets that could be turned over the bulkiest duvet or eiderdown and still be seen. Towels had to be, the finest quality, the softest and fluffiest that is available.
The philosophy of The Egyptian Cotton Store, rapidly became evident. Using the very finest fabrics, innovative and exclusive designs and generous cutting with detail is our watchword. As importantly, is to offer this exceptional quality at mid-range prices so that all can enjoy. We do not copy others, nor do we make products from factories that make designer linens and create cheaper look-alikes. Our designs are totally exclusive, unique and copyrighted.
That same attention to detail has been extended to every aspect of the business. Our exclusive ribbon ties on all our products with top grade packaging, and our exceptionally highly trained team in Customer service, who are both courteous and informed, has created a company we hope you will find a pleasure to deal with.
As for our linens - what we can tell you is that almost everyone who had seen our pre-production samples asked to be put on a waiting list. From photographers, printers and even the chairman of the factory who makes the bed linen.
